In the U. S., you can only get red lenses with a prescription. I would recommend you get opaque lenses, as they will show up pretty brightly no matter what your natural eye color is. Others will see the color and you will have no ill effects. Only if you are in an extremely dark situation will you notice the red contacts, because some of the non-clear part might cover your pupil. This will not be a long-lasting effect and you should have no problems with your lenses.

As with all contact lenses, it is important you read up and understand how to take care of your red contact lenses.  Always wash your hands when taking your colored contact lenses in and out of your eyes.  Always clean them as directed and put them straight into their special case – never leave them lying around.  Take care when handling your contacts so they don’t get damaged or split.  As long as you are sensible you will be just fine.  Another good tip is to keep the bathroom plug in the sink when you’re putting them in and out.   At least with red contact lenses, if you do accidently drop them, unlike normal clear contacts, you will probably be able to find them!
